Linux Server Engineer
Role And Responsibilities:-
Resolve incidents, and problems affecting the operations/availability of high-profile production Linux systems.
Install, configure and maintain servers running Linux OS.
The individual also resolves user issues, addresses change management requests, and identifies potential issues by implementing protective measures.
Willingness to learn new technologies.
Proactive, flexible, and customer-focused.
The ability to work with Agile practices.
Installs and monitors Unix/Linux open-source operating systems and caters to the client's needs in this environment.
Good reporting skills.
Strong knowledge of RAID, Logical Volume Management (LVM),and Linux Package management tools (rpm, yum, apt-get, etc).
Understanding advanced Linux systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical and technical audiences.
Maintain and modify automation scripts to support operational tasks and processes
Hands-on experience on Linux Administration / Troubleshooting / Security.
In-depth knowledge of the Linux operating system- CentOS, Debian Control Panels: cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin
Web Services: Apache HTTPD, Litespeed, Nginx, and Apache Tomcat.
Mail server: Exim, Qmail, Postfix.
Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL. Knowledge of MySQL clustering is an added advantage.
Basic knowledge of Shell scripting.
CloudLinux knowledge preferred.
Should have been a part of at least one 'from scratch ' installation project (monitoring - Nagios, setup LAMP server, MySQL clustering, VPN setup, and Backup configuration using sync).
Being fluent in programming software, systems and languages.
Server virtualization: KVM, Xen, Vmware, OpenVZ
Strong in networking concepts and TCP/IP, its Linux commands.
File permission settings, Security hardening, Firewalls (IPtables, CSF, APF)
Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
Document system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.
Knowledge in SSH hardening, FTP
Design, build, and maintain HPC-scale Linux-based services.
Tune operating systems and applications to increase the performance and reliability of services.
Knowledge of DNS concepts and DNS clustering.
Real-time experience in handling server outages.
Having strong scripting and computing skills.
Being capable of working in an environment using cloud systems.
