Job Description
- Analyzing medical records: Review patient records, doctor's notes, and other patient information to identify missing information, documentation deficiencies, and potential quality of care issues
- Assigning codes: Convert diagnoses, treatments, and procedures into universal medical codes, and ensure the codes are correct and sequenced appropriately
- Complying with regulations: Ensure that codes meet federal regulations and insurance standards, and adhere to medical coding guidelines and policies
Responsibilities:
Review medical records and assign appropriate codes to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments
Ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement for healthcare providers
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
Stay up-to-date with coding guidelines and regulations
Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance
