Data Engineer (Life Sciences) – Databricks

Job Description

As a Data Engineer at Databricks, you’ll play a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights for life sciences applications. Your expertise in data engineering, cloud technologies, and domain-specific knowledge will drive innovation and accelerate scientific discoveries. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

Data Integration and Architecture:

Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes and architectures.

Big Data Technologies:

Utilize Databricks platform to address big data challenges.
Work on end-to-end design, build, and deployment of industry-leading big data and AI applications.
Implement transformational projects, including 3rd-party migrations and reference architectures.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Apache Spark™, Kafka, and Cloud Native technologies.
Strong experience in the Databricks ecosystem.
Comfortable writing code in Python or Scala.
Familiarity with SQL Engines and performance tuning.
Knowledge of data modeling principles (including Dimensional modeling).

Life Sciences Domain:

Understand life sciences data, including genomics, clinical trials, and healthcare datasets.
Apply domain-specific knowledge to optimize data pipelines and analytics.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in a customer-facing post-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role.
Experience working across cloud platforms (GCP / AWS / Azure).
Documentation and white boarding skills.
