Commis chef is novice chef who work to support a chef de partie in a commercial kitchen. They perform cooking, cleaning, delivery, and other support duties as instructed by the chef de partie. Commis chef help ensure that a kitchen's operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes.

Follow recipes and presentation specifications.

Ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen.

Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.

Work closely with senior chefs to learn and develop culinary skills.

Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.

Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes.

Monitor food stock and place orders as needed.

Assist in the development of new menu items.
