Job Description

Install and repair various types of cables for electricity and telecommunications utilities like telephone and internet. As a cable splicer, your job duties include the installation, testing, and repair of primary and secondary cable networks.

Duties:

Assess the condition of existing cables and identify any faults

Plan and install new cables, including running and connecting cables

Test and troubleshoot wiring systems and diagnose any faults

Repair, replace and splice cables as needed

Maintain records and logs of all work carried out

Requirements:

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Ability to use hand tools, e.g. cutting tools and crimping tools

Knowledge of cable sizes and insulation types

Good problem solving skills

Skills:
