Job Description
As the Buyer Manager for our stainless steel company, you will be responsible for overseeing the
procurement of raw materials, components, and services essential for our manufacturing operations.
Your role will involve developing and executing procurement strategies specific to the stainless steel
industry, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials while maintaining high
standards of quality. This position requires expertise in stainless steel procurement, strong
negotiation skills, and the ability to forge strategic relationships with suppliers.
*Responsibilities: *
1. Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to the stainless steel industry, considering
factors such as market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks.
2. Source and evaluate suppliers of stainless steel raw materials, components, and services,
assessing their quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
3. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with stainless steel suppliers to secure favourable
agreements and optimize cost savings.
4. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including production, engineering, and quality
assurance teams, to understand procurement requirements and ensure alignment with production
schedules and quality standards.
5. Monitor inventory levels of stainless steel materials and components, forecasting demand and
coordinating procurement activities to maintain adequate stock levels while minimizing inventory
costs.
6. Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations, addressing any issues related to quality,
delivery, or service levels, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
7. Stay updated on developments in the stainless steel market, including technological
advancements, pricing trends, and regulatory changes, to inform procurement decisions and
strategies.
8. Analyze procurement data and metrics to track purchasing performance, identify opportunities for
improvement, and drive continuous optimization of procurement processes.
9. Manage the procurement process from requisition to receipt, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in
purchasing activities and documentation.
10. Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, training, and support
to foster their professional development and ensure departmental goals are met.
*Requirements:*
1. Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management,
with a focus on the stainless steel industry.
3. Proven track record of negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with stainless steel suppliers
to achieve cost savings and favourable terms.
4. Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and make data-driven procurement decisions.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective
relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a
fast-paced manufacturing environment.
7. Leadership experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve departmental
objectives.
