Every employer has to obtain shops and establishment registration through Online Portal from the Pondicherry Labour Department effective from 9th Nov 2017 and also department advised to follow certain provisions with respect to Minimum Wages, closing and opening of Shops, Working Hours, Appointment letters and Identity Cards to all employees under Pondicherry Shops and Establishment Act, 1964

EPFO UMANG

Introduction of Direct UAN Allotment to any citizen at Unified Portal under Employees Provident (Miscellaneous and Provisions) Act, 1952.

“RPFC (Regional Provident Fund Commissioner) introduce the Direct UAN allotment to any citizen at unified portal. Currently UAN can be generated by employer only and the same to be generated before ECR filing of that member and there were mismatches if in case of large of new joiners in any establishment. Keeping in view the difficulties faced by employers an open functionality is being provided at Unified Portal through which any citizen (prospective employee) can generate his /her UAN on the basis of Aadhaar.  Employee will get OTP on aadhaar linked mobile number and after verification of OTP; Employee has to fill the UAN input sheet form from UADAI. On the basis of input details UAN will be generated”.

Notification on Assam List of Holidays 2018

"All employers in the state of Assam have to frame and declare the list of Holidays to be displayed in the establishment on or before 31st December both in Local Language and English language on the Notice Board and in any other conspicuous place in the establishment. 

 

Every employee shall be allowed in each calendar year, a holiday of one whole day on the national holidays and festival holidays on Bohag Bihu, Durga Puja, Diwali, Christmas, Id-Ui - Fitr and any other occasion as may be specified by the government".

Labour Laws : Sector-Wise Ecosystem

Between 47 central labour laws and 200 state labour laws, India has an over regulated and poorly governed labour law system. Our labour laws have remained dysfunctional, disharmonized, protracted and overreaching. These multiplicity of rules and procedural delays impose unreasonable legislations and transaction cost on businesses. The complex anatomy comprising harassment, corruption and compliance overreach chokes businesses on productivity and competitiveness. TeamLease Labour Law Report 2017 also profiles the labour law ecosystem by State and by laws v/s demand and supply of skills. With a few exceptions (notably, Andhra Pradesh), States scoring well on their labour law regime parameters carry Demand-Supply surplus as well. These States are well positioned to reap handsome rewards from reforming their labour law regimes. At least 32 State and Union Territory governments submitted evidence of implementation of over 7000 reforms. A total of 6069 reforms were approved and implemented. The national implementation average has increased from 32% to 48.93%. The result of the assessment demonstrates that States have increasingly risen to addressing the challenge of making it easier to do business.
